Detective Conan "Realization" pg1+2 (Doujin)

I started drawing a new DC doujinshi the other day and now finished the first page. You can follow the progress on my deviantART gallery, though I will also post the pages here on my blog.

Story title: Realization
Summary: As the title suggests, the story is about Conan realizing his true feelings for Ai after he dreams about her. While in denial he tells himself that he's only 'worried' about her, and thus, has to be with her all the time.
Main pairing: Ai Haibara/Conan Edogawa (Shiho Miyano/Shinichi Kudo)

EDIT 12/29/2010:

(Drawn on Manga Studio EX 4 and typeset on Photoshop. Typesetting is not my strength, so please bear with me.) :/

This is the trailer to this manga. "Summer Class"

Summer Class [Manga]

I actually planned to make a longer version of this manga, that the spiky-haired girl is suffering from amnesia and doesn't recognize her classmate from her former school. But then I thought I just leave it as it is.

This was inspired by an actual event I experienced in my summer class back in college, but of course the awkwardness didn't happen and I wasn't reading a manga in class.

How to Read Manga
Most manga is read from RIGHT TO LEFT, not left to right. Speech bubbles, words and sound effects are also read from right to left.

Azusa Nakano & Ai Haibara fanART

Detective Conan and K-ON! are my favorite anime, and these two are my favorite characters. So I thought, Hey why not draw them together? XD I'm trying to draw manga covers, so this was just for practice.

Christmas Dedication

I finally got to use my new PenTablet since my last one's mousepen broke (read in this post's bottom what happened), and it took me a little getting used to to its functions and sensitivity, but I think it worked out well. The first panel was drawn with my old broken mousepen, while the rest was done with my new tablet. I drew it using Manga Studio EX 4 and typeset it in PhotoShop CS5.

Merry Christmas 2010

Back again with another drawing.

This took me a total of 7 hours to draw (in 2 days) using Manga Studio EX 4 and Photoshop CS5. My MousePen is broken but I'm quite happy with the outcome. heehee I already ordered a new PenTablet, which should be here, I hope, by Monday or Tuesday.

The character is Ai Haibara from Detective Conan by Gosho Aoyama. I always draw them in chibi-style (Jap. "small child".)

1000 Twitter Followers

Yes, I am elated. I am ecstatic! I am overjoyed!

Because it's my first 1000! Finally. I thought I wouldn't be able to manage that before my 1st Twitter anniversary on Dec. 25. If I'd tweeted more often in the beginning, then maybe I'd reached this many a long time ago. But anyway... WTG. lol

Detective Conan (Doujin)

Long time, no post! I've been neglecting this blog lately because my other blog is being re-designed and it's taking really long to fix the layout.

Anyway, I was finally able to draw a 3-pages Detective Conan doujin. I tried a new program this time, Manga Studio EX 4. This is why the quality looks different than my other drawings. I'm still not familiar yet with all the tools and settings there.

I drew each page on different days, that's why the quality has slightly improved on the last one. I'm getting more familiar with the program, and more skilled at drawing (I think).

Visit my deviantART gallery.

(11/23/10: I tried using a new program (well, for me it's new), Manga Studio 4 EX, so I'm not familiar yet with all the tools and settings. The drawing is too basic, too.) Waah :o
(11/29/19: Working on different perspectives.)
(12/05-12/07/10: Experimenting with different tones and fonts.)

R.I.P My beloved MousePen,
I'll be bored without you!

I started drawing the cover when something really bad happened! I didn't realize that I was carrying my MousePen with me and carelessly placed it beside the stove while I was getting something to drink. Then I left it there and completely forgot about it. I thought, Hey, I'm hungry, why not fry some eggs? So I did. When I went back to my computer, I was looking for my MousePen. I always misplace that stupid thing, so I only searched around my desk, bed, etc.

I hurried quickly back to the stove, thinking, F*CK, I couldn't have left it there, SH*T! But unfortunately, it was lying right beside the hot pan, so I didn't notice it at once. The SHOCK of my life! It's the same crushing feeling like seeing your hamster being sucked in by the vacuum cleaner. The tip and the side where the scroll-button used to be were MELTED, and the pen was bent. I can't use it anymore.

So I Googled for a replacement of just the MousePen, but couldn't find one without having to buy the new set. I was planning to get a new PenTablet set anyway, one with a screen just like the WACOM Cintiq, but that one costs over €1000 (about $999). In my depression and sadness, I bought a Hanvon Rollick 0504 (see picture). I think I wasn't thinking clearly. But hey, I'm feeling better now. I'll have my new GraphicTablet in, hopefully, a few days, then I can draw again.

K-ON! Live concert DVD

The “K-on!”’s voice actresses are playing K-on!’s popular songs actually in person at the live concert!

After watching the full DVD I was like "OMFG!" in a good way. I think I watched it like three times, they were really awesome. Actually not my type of music and if people would understand (well, except for the Japanese or people who understand this language) the lyrics then they'd certainly find it embarrassing. Only people who are fans of K-ON! anime will be able to fully appreciate this concert and think that their costumes were kawaii! I will buy the Blu-Ray of course since I support K-ON!

Here's a download link of their concert: K-ON! LIVE Concert DVD "Let's Go!" (4.13GB) | or try this. The first one's the one I downloaded and it works great. If you have fast internet connection it'll only take you less than 30 minutes. I don't feel like uploading it on my blog since I don't have the original DVD and getting suspended is unthinkable. Use this VLC Player to add subtitles (I didn't make the subtitles, someone else made it. Thanks to zMz!).

Just in case you don't know how to add subtitles:
1. Once you have installed the VLC Player, open video.
2. Right-click -> Video -> Subtitles Track -> Open File... (.ass)
3. Click Play

I don't know if this is standard or a must or if it's just my computer, but put the subtitles file (.ass) and video file in one folder together for it to work.

But of course it's always best to BUY the original DVD/Blu-Ray.

K-ON!
This is currently my favorite anime! K-ON! (jap. けいおん!, Keion!)

Here are great HQ wallpapers of K-ON! They are so kawaii! When I find the time I will probably upload their music, too.

Happy Anniversary!

Today is my blog's 1st Anniversary, so before I forget to post anything here are my current blog stats. Not that many visitors or traffic at all, but it's okay. ;) I post about random things anyway and never stick to anything in particular for a longer period of time. I hope I will still have this blog for many more years despite all the rubbish.

Blog stats only from May 2010 - Nov 2010

EDIT:
I moved my first post to my other blog, which means my first post is no longer November 18.

Fan Art Detective Conan Manga

Ai Haibara and Conan Edogawa

I started this a week ago and only finished now. For the line art I used PenTool SAI (trial version here otherwise purchase full version here) and Photoshop for the rest, like screen tones and typesetting. Manga Studio won't install on my computer for some weird reason. I dunno...

And I made the screen tones myself this time, so no credits. I had no idea how easy they were to make. heehee :)

Sea Pig – One of the Ugliest Sea Creature

To the common man sea pigs may look like sea creatures produced from a cross between a pig and a slug. To some others it appears to be human fingers growing out of the creature’s mouth. But scientifically, these ugly sea pigs are scotoplanes or sea cucumbers belonging to the genus of the deep sea Holothurians.

These Holothurians are marine animals that inhabit the deep sea floor. Some other examples of deep sea marine life include Sea squirt, sea stars, sea slugs, corals, clams, sponges and sea urchins. The Sea pigs may look like slugs. Their body wall skeleton is clearly visible as spiny C shaped rods and are clear cucumbers measuring2-4 inches in length. They have tentacles and large tube feet. The tube feet may appear like two antennas, while the other tube feet are arranged in a row around the rim at the bottom.

Sea pigs thrive best on the abyssal plain of the ocean floor and behave like slugs do above sea level. The sea cucumbers feed on deep ocean mud and thrive on the organic material present there. The sea pigs feed by using their tentacles to push the food into their mouth. They tread deep sea waters using their tube feet. Other sea organisms present here are starfish, sea urchins, clams and other members of the echinodermata family.

sea pig 5

The sea pigs feed and reproduce in the depths of the ocean and form the majority of deep sea marine population. The sea pigs are not considered as a threat to humans and they are not an endangered species.

Mills and colleagues from the New Zealand’s National Institute of water and atmospheric pressure collected 30,000 deep sea animals including the sea pigs during a marine census of southern Antarctica. The sea pigs are available in abundance all over the world except the northern part of the Atlantic Ocean and eastern part of Pacific Ocean, and in central and South America.
